Every motorist in CA, even those bearing only learners’ permits, are obligated to comply with the minimum car insurance requirements of the state. This means that when you buy your student car insurance, Bodily Injury Liability (BIL) for one person should be at $15,000, BIL for two or more persons has to cover $30,000, and Property Damage Liability (PDL) of $5,000 for any single accident. Since these amounts may not be enough to cover all the expenses following an unfortunate car crash, it would be advisable to get much higher coverage limits. And since liability insurance will not provide you with any recompense in case your car gets wrecked in the accident, it would be a good move to obtain the Collision and Comprehensive Insurance. Not only will this take care of repair costs following accidents, but it will provide you with monetary assistance in cases where your car gets damaged by fire, flood or collision with animals. If you elect to take this coverage under your student car insurance, then it will also pay for the actual cash value of your car if it gets written off after a car crash. Since student car insurance is relatively more expensive, it would be best to do some comparison shopping online to be assured that the rates you get are the most competitive in your area.
