The requirements are easy to fill out when getting car insurance college student. I would guess that this would be the car insurance that you fill out yourself. Right now, you might still be listed under your parents’ car insurance, as that is more practical when you’re still in school. When you move out permanently, however, you will no longer be considered a member of your parent’s household, and would therefore need to have your own car insurance. You will be needing your driver’s history, including violations citations and/ or convictions if any, car information, credit history, and previous car insurance information, which you could get from your parents.

Since you are a young driver with limited driving experience, car insurance companies would give you high insurance rates. You are considered a high-risk driver. This is because car insurance companies assume that young drivers are risk-takers when on the road and are thus more likely to get into accidents. There is no specific amount but you could be billed as much as 60% more than what a 35 year old driver would usually get. Given these, there are options for you to save. One is to apply for a good student discount, since you are in school. This could save as much as 10% on your insurance fees. Another way for you to save is to go back to driver training school. If you take a state-approved driver-training course, you could qualify for another 10% discount on your coverage. That’s already a good 20% off your car insurance expenses. Good luck!
